AUE supports newcomers who are authorized to work in Canada to build meaningful careers and lasting community connections in Newfoundland and Labrador. Through our Employment Program, you receive structured support, coaching, and employer introductions — on your terms, at your pace, aligned with your skills and goals.

Who we Support

AUE serves newcomers who are authorized to work in Canada — including permanent residents, permanent resident pathway candidates, refugees, work permit holders, study permit holders, and Canadian citizens with newcomer backgrounds. If you are eligible to work in Canada and want to build your career in Newfoundland and Labrador, AUE is for you. You do not need to be at any specific stage of your immigration journey to join the program.

Here is how we support you in reaching your career goals

FAQ

Who can join the program?

We support newcomers to Canada already living in NL or who have been authorized to come to Canada and hold a valid permit.

Is there a cost to participate in the program?

No, our services are fully funded thanks to The Northpine Foundation, the Newfoundland & Labrador Department of Jobs, Immigration, and Growth, and IRCC.

How long will it take you to find me a job?

Our program doesn’t guarantee a job placement. Instead, we focus on helping you become employment-ready and competitive in the local job market. The timeline for finding a job depends on your skills, experience, and the current job market.

Can I participate if I don’t speak English fluently?

Absolutely! Language is never a barrier to joining our program.

Our team can support you in more than 10 languages, and we also use technology to help with translation and communication. We provide one-on-one assistance so you can fully participate and benefit from our services.

If you’d like to strengthen your English, we also collaborate with partners — including the Ukrainian National Federation — to offer English classes based on demand. These may have a waitlist, but we’ll help you access them as soon as possible while ensuring you stay supported and connected in the meantime.
