Explore coastal trails, enjoy ocean views, connect with others, and spend time outdoors.What it isLace up and join us for a scenic group hike starting at Cape Spear, the easternmost point in North America. We'll begin by exploring the restored 1836 lighthouse and the Second World War coastal defence battery before setting out along a breathtaking coastal trail toward North Head. Along the way, expect sweeping ocean views, a snack break with a view (keep an eye out for seabirds and maybe even whales!), and good company for the walk back.Who is this forThis hike is for anyone looking to get outside, move at a comfortable pace, and connect with others in the community, whether you're a regular hiker or just looking to try something new. No experience necessary, just a willingness to enjoy the outdoors together.Event Details📅 Saturday, September 19, 2026🕐 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM📍 Meeting Point: Cape Spear – Main Parking Lot, Information Centre🥾 Trail: ~9 km out-and-back, moderate difficulty (well-maintained coastal trail with some uneven terrain and elevation changes)⏱️ Estimated hiking time: 3–4 hours👥 Ages 12+☔ Poor weather backup: Board games afternoon at 7 Ricketts RdWe’ll begin together at Cape Spear and walk along the East Coast Trail before splitting into two groups:🥾 Participants looking for a longer hike can join our staff and continue along the North Head Trail.🫐 Participants who prefer a more leisurely experience can stay with our other staff for a shorter hike and berry picking, with time to stop along the trail.
