Many Newfoundlanders enjoy boil-ups in every season, often at a beach, a fishing stage, or in the woods, cooking over a campfire or camp stove.Toutons are a classic Newfoundland treat: pieces of bread dough pan-fried until golden brown and served warm. Historically, they were enjoyed for breakfast or as an afternoon tea snack whenever there was extra bread dough on hand. We’ll have molasses, butter, and jam, so you can try all three! What to ExpectWe’ll meet at The Fluvarium parking lot and start with a warm welcome. Then we’ll take an easy walk together around Long Pond (less than 1.5 km return). Afterward, we’ll gather for our boil-up with tea and toutons, a perfect chance to relax, chat, and enjoy a local tradition with friends both new and old.Why Join?Physical health: Gentle movement and fresh air are good for your body.Mental and emotional wellbeing: Time in nature helps you unwind and feel grounded.Social connection: Meet new people, share stories, and feel part of a welcoming community.Event DetailsDate: Saturday, November 7, 2026Time: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PMMeeting Point: Pippy Park, The Fluvarium Parking Lot, along Nagles Place (at the intersection of Allandale Road and Nagles Place).
