Fishing, Food & Fun in Petty Harbour!

Join us September 21st for fishing, a traditional NL fish fry, and cultural connection in Petty Harbour!

Join us for an unforgettable afternoon in the historic fishing village of Petty Harbour! This group outing offers a special opportunity to connect with others, enjoy nature, and experience a hands-on introduction to traditional Newfoundland fishing culture.

No fishing experience is required!

About Petty Harbour:

Nestled beneath the hills in the heart of Motion Bay, Petty Harbour is one of the oldest and most picturesque fishing villages in Newfoundland. The area is rich with culture, history, and natural beauty. Fishing continues to play a vital role in daily life here, and this event is a unique opportunity to step into that tradition.

What to Expect:

  • Wharf fishing & trouting: Try your hand at catching fish using a fishing rod
  • Fish processing & food prep: Learn how fish is traditionally cleaned and prepared
  • Traditional NL fish fry: Enjoy fried fresh cod, homemade pickles, and soft bread rolls
  • Cultural exchange: Hear stories from locals and share your own traditions
  • Nature time: Relax by the water and explore the beautiful harbour setting
  • Community connection: Meet other permanent residents, newcomers, and locals
  • Bonus: A backup supply of fresh fish will be available if the fishing luck isn’t on our side!

What to bring:

  • Comfortable footwear
  • A warm layer
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Sunscreen
  • Rain jacket (if necessary)

Transportation Options:

Ride share is available if needed – meet at 7 Ricketts Road at 1:30 PM

Please indicate in your registration if:

  • You can offer a ride
  • You need a ride
  • You have your own fishing gear
  • You have prior fishing experience and are open to assisting others

Registration Notes:

  • Space is limited to 20 participants
  • Open to adults and youth aged 10 and up (youth must be supervised by an adult)
  • Please list any allergies, dietary concerns, or accessibility needs during registration
