Introduction to Snowshoeing – Pippy Park

Join us Feb 28 at Pippy Park for a 2-hr intro to snowshoeing! Snowshoes, hot chocolate & winter fun included. All levels welcome

Located in the heart of St. John’s, Pippy Park offers excellent winter recreation for the novice and the experienced alike. Visitors can enjoy Nordic or skate skiing, snowshoeing or tobogganing against the backdrop of ponds and snow pines. Shake those winter blues and explore Pippy Park blanketed in snow! We welcome you to join us in beautiful Pippy Park for an afternoon introduction to snowshoeing and camaraderie with old friends and new. The Pippy Park Winter Activity Centre offers snowshoes for all ages (we will cover all rental fee) and our Bloom team will be available to assist you on your snowshoeing journey. We will be sure to make frequent stops along the trails to allow you the opportunity to truly embrace your magical winter surroundings and to share hot chocolate and treats with other participants.

Date/Time: Saturday February 28th – 1:30pm – 3:30pm

Estimated snow showing time: 2 hrs (including setup and breaks)

Trail difficulty: Moderate

In case Mother Nature does not cooperate and conditions are not favourable for snow showing on Feb 28, we will reschedule to March 7.

Plan B: Saturday March 7th, 1:30-3:30pm

NOTE: If we need to reschedule from 28th to 7th due to weather, facilitators will contact participants by noon on the 28th before 11am to provide an update by email/SMS.

Recommended clothing and supplies:

  • Comfortable warm WINTER footwear
  • Warm WINTER pants and jacket
  • Warm hat and mittens
  • Reusable water bottle
  • If you need assistance with appropriate winter clothing, please reach out to hbellows@amalnl.ca and we can offer our free Clothing Boutique services to help you be warm and comfortable

Parking: Free parking is available in several areas within the park including North Bank Lodge on Nagle’s Place

To help us continue offering free wellness activities to the community, we ask all participants to complete a short one-time information form.

This is a requirement from our funders and helps us keep Bloom running at no cost to you. The information is confidential and used only for reporting and planning.
