Good to Know:
When accessing emergency hospital services, it’s important to be prepared:
● Carry your MCP (Medical Care Plan) card or have ready your insurance information.
● Visits can take 5 to 8 hours or more, depending on how critical your condition is.
● Bring a phone charger.
● Pack snacks or a meal – Food may not be available.
● Know your symptoms and medications – Write them down in case you’re unable to speak clearly.
● Limit companions – Only one person may be allowed in with you.
● If English is a barrier, you can request translation help.
Walk-in Clinics & Family Doctors
If you need non-emergency medical care, you can visit a walk-in clinic or register for a family doctor.
Community Walk-In Clinic (first-come, first-served)
Services: A community walk-in clinic for adults and children without a primary care provider (i.e., family doctor or nurse practitioner) provides access to health services to treat minor health issues or injuries and promote overall health and wellness.

Harm Reduction Clinic (Walk-in)
Services: Provides primary health care and other supports to vulnerable, homeless, and precariously housed individuals within the metro St. John’s area.
