Built for Work: Employment Readiness and Construction Essentials Program

What it is
Amal Unite & Empower is partnering with Academy Canada to offer Built for Work, a fully funded, two-week construction training program for newcomers who want to start a career in construction or continue a career they began in another country while learning how the industry works in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The program includes:

• Employment-readiness support,
• Hands-on construction training,
• Industry-relevant micro-credentials,
• Job-site training, and
• Opportunities to connect with local employers.

You’ll also have an opportunity to ask questions and find out whether the program is the right next step for you.

Who is this for
This session is for newcomers to Canada who:

• Want to start a career in construction
• Have construction experience from another country and want to continue their career in Canada
• Want to learn more about Newfoundland and Labrador’s construction industry
• Have little or no Canadian experience in the trades
• No previous construction experience is required to join.

Please note: Completing the program does not guarantee employment.

Already completed AUE’s Employment Program? You’re fast-tracked.
If you’ve already completed AUE’s Employment Program, you won’t need to do it again. You’ll be fast-tracked straight into the construction micro-credential stage, then join the rest of the cohort for the hands-on job-site day and graduation event.
