Your Rights at Work: Building Confidence, Safety, & Belonging

April 27 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Confidence-building session for newcomers on workplace rights, safety, and self-advocacy to support retention and employer trust.

Your Rights at Work: Building Confidence, Safety, and Belonging

Strong workplaces begin with confident, informed employees.

Many newcomers enter the Canadian workforce with strong skills and experience, but limited knowledge of workplace rights, protections, and professional norms. As a result, some may:

  1. Tolerate unsafe or inappropriate conditions
  2. Feel unsure how to raise concerns
  3. Misunderstand workplace protections
  4. Leave roles prematurely due to preventable challenges

This session focuses on producing employment-ready participants that employers trust. It is not legal training, but a confidence-building session focused on helping participants understand how to work safely, professionally, and effectively in Canadian workplaces.

We will explore:

  1. Fundamental workplace rights and protections in Canada
  2. Discrimination and harassment: what they are and what they are not
  3. Psychological safety and professional boundaries
  4. How to raise concerns constructively
  5. Where to seek support if challenges arise
  6. Strategies for maintaining professionalism while advocating for yourself

The goal is to reduce workplace vulnerability and increase long-term success.
